Banana Cheese Crepes

I love banana. I eat banana for snack and sometimes I have it for breakfast. Since I made banana chocolate pancake and it turned out to be very nice, I want to try other recipe.. banana cheese crepes :D

Preparation Time: 5 minutes
Cooking Time: 5 minutes
Servings: 2
Difficulty: Easy

Ingredients:
1 tbsp butter / margarine / olive oil
125 ml pancake mix
94 ml cup water
1 egg
2 bananas - cut into half
cheese
3 tbsp chocolate syrup

Directions:
1. Mix batter (pancake mix + water + egg) according to package
2. Heat butter in a pan over low heat
3. Pour in some of the batter (don't put too many, so the the layer of batter will be thin) and tilt pan until batter covers the bottom of pan
4. Cook until crepe is lightly browned and dry, turn crepe and do the same

Try to make it as thin as possible.

The crepe on the right was my 1st attempt... and it failed miserably T^T. But I manage to get it right on my 2nd attempt (on the left) :P.

This is how thin it should be..

5. On the crepe, lay 2 slices of bananas with the cheese in the middle
6. Roll up the crepe

7. Put in the plate and pour the chocolate syrup over the crepes

Benefits of banana:
- Banana is good for anemia, kidney and eyesight protection
- Banana is good for bones, because it can increase our body's ability to absorb calcium
- Banana can prevent high blood pressure and stroke.

Benefits of cheese:
- Cheese is good for bones, because it has very high calcium content
- Cheese contains substances called Conjugated Linoleic Acid and Sphingolipids that help prevent cancer

The fat in cheese depends on the quality of the milk it was made with. Full fat, cream milk, low fat or fat free milk will determine how high the fat content of the cheese is. Make sure to look for the fat content in the cheese before you buy it.

A Healthy Breakfast

My hubby cholesterol is on the borderline high. That's why I try to cook healthy food to control his cholesterol level.

Every morning I will prepare healthy breakfast for him: oatmeal + milo + black sesame + walnut.

Mix everything with hot water.

Hopefully this healthy food can lower down his cholesterol level.

Benefits of oatmeal:
- it may help lower cholesterol levels and reduce the risk of heart disease.
- it can help you control your weight.
- it may help reduce high blood pressure.
- it may actually reduce the risk for certain cancers.

Benefits of sesame seeds:
- To prevent high blood pressure and protect the liver against damage.
- Sesame seeds had the highest total phytosterol content that can help lower cholesterol levels and improve heart health.

Benefits of walnuts:
- Walnuts protect arteries after high-fat meal.
- Help prevent gallstones.
- Walnuts also contain an antioxidant compound called ellagic acid, which blocks the metabolic pathways that can lead to cancer.

Master Crab Seafood Restaurant Pte Ltd (螃蟹师傅)

Last Friday, we went to eat crabs at Master Crab Seafood Restaurant. There were 7 of us.

The restaurant was quite full, especially during public holiday eve.

We ordered a set menu for 6-7 pax, coz the price is cheaper.

1 Crab is around $35-$40/kg

These are what we ordered:

Ginger & Onion Crab

I thought my sister likes onion, so we decided to ordered this dish. But I was wrong.. my sis likes garlic.... and she hates onion -_-!

This dish was quite nice but unexceptional.

Salted Egg Crab

Not much restaurant serve this dish. Master Crab is one of those who serves fantastic salted egg crab. This is my dad's favourite :)

The combination of the crab's meat sweetness with the salted egg yolk stir-fried is simply heaven. It is a must try!!!

Cereal Prawns ($16 / $22 / $28 / $34 / $40)

Even though it is a common dish, but they put a lot of cereal on the prawns. And the prawns were very big and fresh. Wonderfull....

Fried Asparagus with Fresh Scallop ($15 / $20 / $25 / $30)

Stewed Black Mushroom with Abalone ($12 / $16 / $20)

Mmm.... yummy...

Pork's Ribs ($8 / $11 / $14 / $18)

The pork's ribs was tender, but too sweet..

Hong Kong Noodles ($4.30 / $7 / $10 / $12)

It was my brother-in-law's birthday, and we wanted to give him a surprise. We asked him to join us. Unknown to him, we already ordered birthday noodle for him.

When the noodle came, we congratulated him and sang a happy birthday song :)

The noodle was not so special.. Just like common Hong Kong noodle.

Mantou - $1 for 3 pcs

The mantou was a lil bit sweet. I like to deep it in the salted egg crab's sauce...

Total bill: $288 (exclude the mantou)

Cheezy Choco Banana Pancake

I really concern about my husband's health, so every morning I prepare healthy breakfast (2 slices of wholemeal bread and a cup of hot milo with oatmeal).

But if I give the same menu everyday, then he will get bored easily. So, usually I make this banana pancake on Saturday :)

Ingredients:
1 tbsp butter / margarine / olive oil

Dian Xiao Er (店小二)

Today we had dinner at Dian Xiao Er (Causeway Point).

The place looks like an inn in ancient china setting.

Even the menu looks like kung fu manual in kung fu movies.

These are what we ordered:

Dong Po Pork
2-4 pax: S$12.50
5-7 pax: S$18.80
8-10 pax: S$25.00

Looks like very oily..

But actually not. There was only a thin layer of fat, and the rest: pure tender meat! The sauce was excellent... penetrates into the meat without covering the natural taste of the meat, giving birth to an exceptional combination of taste! And one wonders why this dish was so famous since hundreds of years ago!

Duck Roasted With Angelica Herb
2-4 pax: S$11.80
5-7 pax: S$22.80
8-10 pax: S$33.80

The duck doesn't have too much fat too. Luv it :)

Kangkong With Fermented Beancurd
2-4 pax: S$8.00
5-7 pax: S$12.00
8-10 pax: S$16.00

The kangkong was very nice. It was very fresh, fragrant and tasty..

Deep Fried Kailan With Floss
2-4 pax: S$9.80
5-7 pax: S$14.80
8-10 pax: S$19.80

This is one of the most popular dish here.

Quite unique, but I must say that I don't really like it. The kailan smells like oil that had been re-used several times already.

Din Tai Fung (鼎泰丰)

My parents came to Singapore for holiday, so me and my sister wanted to treat them dinner. We wanted to go to a nice restaurant (preferably chinese food) and of course.. not too expensive :P

In the end, we decided to go to Din Tai Fung :)

It is a Taiwanese restaurant, complete with elegant wooden table and a unique container to put our bags :)

Crispy Golden Prawn Pancakes - S$8.50 *

If you are a shrimp lover, then you have to try this!!! The skin was crispy and the shrimp was really fresh ..

Fried Rice with Shreded Pork and Eggs - S$8.50 *

The fried rice is quite famous and now I know why...

The rice was very fragrant and tasty. Although I'm not a big fan of fried rice, but this one was quite good (my hubby said it was really good)

Stir Fried Spinach with Garlic - S$8.00 *

The spinach was fresh and good especially when you eat it while it's still hot.

Din Tai Fung is famous for its Xiao Long Bao. But since everytime we come here, we always order that, so now we wanted to try something else.

Steamed Shrimp and Pork Dumpling *
(6 pcs) S$7.00
(10 pcs) S$9.80

For the filling: shrimp, pork and soup.. very tasty!! And it's good to eat it with the ginger strips and soy sauce... (I think my saliva come out already, just by seeing the picture -_-!)

Steamed Yam Paste Dumpling *
(6 pcs) S$5.80
(10 pcs) S$7.80

When my sister ordered this, honestly I'm not to sure about the taste. I even said that my mom won't like it. But she said that my mom likes yam so she will definitely love this yam paste dumpling.

Well, I have to admit that although it doesn't look convincing on the outside, even the picture doesn't look that wonderful, but it tasted quite nice (never judge the book by its cover haha!)

Vermicelli Soup with Deep-fried Beancurd and Minced Meat Ball - S$7.80 *

This is my favourite dish. The beancurd was tender, the soup was tasty and the minced meat ball was simply yummy.

I prefer glass vermicelli to noodle...

Noodle with Minced Pork in Bean Sauce - S$7.00 *

My hubby ordered this dish, and he said that it tasted good but not exceptional.

Anyway, hubby was happy to eat here :) (There goes his fake smile again -_-!)
